Archaeology HomeThe GNOAP is a resource for private and public property owners, planners, and concerned citizens about archaeological issues in the greater New Orleans area. Our mission is to prevent the loss of the archaeological heritage of greater New Orleans through site documentation, preservation, research, and public education. The goals for the Greater New Orleans Archaeology program are:
The GNOAP is housed in the University of New Orleans’ Department of Anthropology, School of Urban Planning and Regional Studies and is a part of the Louisiana Regional Archaeology Program. Funding is made possible by the National Park Service, the Louisiana Division of Archaeology, and the University of New Orleans.
